Joining the Library
Reader registration
You may register with the Library online. Just complete the registration form: Reader Registration. The mandatory fields are marked with red asterisks. Remember to provide correct email address as the confirmation email with user account number will be sent to that email address. By submitting the form you confirm that you have read and accepted Wroclaw Medical University Library Policy.
Notice! If you forgot your library account password, do not open a new account. Reset your password using the “Forgot your password?” option.
Activating your account
After
submitting the registration form you have 14 days to activate your account. You
can do that at the circulation desk on the first floor of the Library at 2-6 Marcinkowskiego
St.
Bring one of the following forms of identification:
- Wroclaw Medical University students (status: WMU student): student eCard, ID card or passport.
- Wroclaw Medical University PhD students (status: WMU student): student eCard, ID card or passport.
- Wroclaw Medical University postgraduate students: student record book with the card of obligations, ID card (there is a registration fee) or postgraduate participation agreement, ID card (there is a registration fee) or student eCard and ID card (with no registration fee).
- Wroclaw Medical University staff: employment confirmation (up to a month back), ID card (there is a registration fee) or staff eCard and ID card (with no registration fee).
- University students studying at institutions participating in the agreement of Wroclaw universities (status: other): student eCard, card of obligations issued by the user’s university library or Dean’s office, ID card or passport (there is a registration fee)
- Academic staff (including librarians) of institutions participating in the agreement of Wroclaw universities (status: other): ID card, employment confirmation issued by the user’s institution (up to a month back) there is a registration fee
- Medical personnel with medical license, residing in Lower Silesia (status: medical personnel): ID card, medical license (there is a registration fee)
- Medical personnel employed by medical entities from Lower Silesia, with or without medical license, not residing in Lower Silesia (status: medical personnel): ID card, employment confirmation (there is a registration fee)
- Other users aged 18+ (status – on site only): ID card (there is a registration fee)

Library Card
Upon activation of library account, WMU student and staff eCard will serve as a Library Card. Other users will receive library cards for a fee. Check current fee list.
Notice! No other person can use your card on your behalf.
General Data Protection Regulation
In accord with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council, we inform that:
- The administrator of personal data of users is the Main Library of
Wroclaw Medical University, Wybrzeże Pasteura 1, 50-367 Wrocław, called the
“Administrator”.
- The Administrator has appointed Data
Protection Officer whom you can contact with any questions regarding data
processing at the following email address:
iod@umw.edu.pl
- Personal data collected in the
process of user registration and library use is processed only to provide users
with library services such as user registration, account activation and use of
account. The use of data is limited to the Main Library of Wroclaw Medical
University.
- The data processing right is granted
by the Higher Education Act 2005 ( 27 July 2005), Higher Education Act
(Official Journal 2017, item 2182 with amendments), Libraries Act 27 June 1997 (OJ
2018, item 574), the Administrator’s status and the Library regulations.
- You may refrain from providing your personal
data but in such case the use of WMU Library services will not be possible.
- The Administrator will not share
your data with any third parties except when it is required by law.
- The Administrator may share your personal
data with a third party with which the Library has signed a contract to process
personal data on its behalf (for example web hosting service providers).
- In accord with the provisions of articles
15-21 and 77 of GDPR, the data subjects have the right to obtain access to their
data and have inaccurate data rectified. In certain circumstances permitted by
law, data subjects may apply for personal data suppression or restriction. They
may also lodge a complaint with a supervising body or transfer personal data.
- Personal data will not be
transferred to third countries or international organizations.
- User personal data will be processed
as long as the user is using the Library’s services and, subsequently, for a
period of time required by law and internal regulations of the Administrator,
in order to protect the Administrator’s interests.
- We inform that if a library user
ceases to actively use the library account but does not inform the Library that
they want to cease using the services, any personal data collected by the WMU Library will be archived for the
duration of 5 years. After this time, the account will be permanently deleted
(as long as there are no overdue materials on the account).
- The personal data will not be
subject to automated decision making.
